Yes, 10 years have gone by since Euphoria 1.0 was released,
and I'm still working on this thing.
I released 1.0 by uploading it to a
local Toronto BBS (Bulletin Board System - remember those?),
using my 2400 Baud modem. In those days very few people
had even heard of the Internet. There was no Web to speak of.
To distribute Euphoria better, I bought a 14,400 baud modem,
and started uploading to a bunch of other BBS's
around North America. Eventually I put it on Compuserve,
GEnie and the fledgling America Online.
10 years isn't old by programming language standards.
C is about 30, Fortran almost 50. Hardware sure
advances a lot faster than software.

Yes, we know. <sigh>
It's not just Euphoria, actually. I was so excited to hear of the hardware
dedicated to doing string manipulation, back in the 70's, but it isn't made
anymore. Then Connection Machines bit the dust more recently. While
Lisp/Scheme/etc isn't my cup of tea, Eu is close enough to do the same job,
IF we had string execution. And i still prefer a good goto over a case
statement.

I don't think any of it is funny.
The loss of my 30Gig HDD, kat being frustrated.
My bigfixed.e not being complete.
BCBS not being done yet.
My dead-end job.
My lack of drive to create/motivate/run my own business.
My inability to make that reverse proxy for kat.

* I don't know TCP/IP programming.
* kat is asking for MORE THAN a reverse proxy.
* even if she refuses to belive that fact.

I wrote a sort of one on apache, that works fine. The catch is that it is
horribly difficult to debug.
I wrote it for her, but then she says she doesn't want it. And yet she
still complains about not having one...even tho one is available. I have said
multiple times that it is working. She doesn't even bother to reply when I
say that.
I'll give the code to anyone else who wants to give it a go, however. (It'll
prolly end up public domain.)

Debugging and testing is hard. Most of the rest of the items on here
are respectively simple, however.

Her attitude is likely more influcenced by her outlook of her life than the
progress of the project (or so it appears to me anyways). Considering her life
this is completely understandable ... but doesn't make the situation any
easier to deal with. For her or anyone trying to help her.

several times, i pointed out the bugs that kept it from working. Then the shell
you guys were using stopped letting me log in, and i gave you the passwords
to the account. I still do NOT have a WORKING proxy.

Well, so far, this project hasn't gone anywhere after over a year of you
alledgedly having a working proxy. Yes i am ticked, because i was told it
was working several times, and yet you did recode it and tell me it was
working, repeatedly.

I know it's a bit more versatile. I offered to help with those extras. It was
when adding those extras that i discovered the code didn't work on the shell
it was installed on. Repeatedly.

That doesn't make sense. If i am offline, it doesn't matter how simple it is to
tell the proxy i am gone, as i wouldn't be able to due to being offline! I said

means i am not there, until i reconnect.

proxy working somewhere, but you have yet to post an url of it. You call me

ISP restrictions). I could show it to you in action tho, you'd just need
a shell account on my local system.

I could show you the code and have you point out more bugs ... except that
would go against the "fully tested" clause i suppose, eh?
I'll set it up and give it a full test later tonight (or perhaps early tomorrow
morning) just to see how it fares. If you are still interested in the
program then email me privately and I'll try to arrange a full demonstration
of the program for you (i.e. give you a shell account and everything).

One implication might have been that the proxy code is designed for linux but
you wanted it to run under a FreeBSD shell account ... I have recently
discovered a few incompatibilites that will have to be addressed before
I can say that the proxy will work under FreeBSD.
Another thing is that this proxy is actually an Apache CGI program and I am
not too great a Linux CGI programmer.

I did? If I did then it was working for me ... I did send code to the #euphoria
channel that I said I hadn't TESTED because at that time I had no idea how
to set up or use Apache (robsz1 taught me later).

I didn't care. I lost track of the reasons you gave for it not working. I
finally
said i wanted the proxy set up and working, i didn't care what flavor of nix it
worked on.

I did a full test. It is working, but only minimally. A lot of features
that you have requested have not been implemented at all ... and those that
have are not working. Only the basic relaying works, afaict.
I also need someone who knows a great deal of CGI and HTML ... the examples
that robsz1 wrote are primitive and I want more to test out the proxy better ...
alas I'm at my limits in that area.

I gave you the password in Dec, 2002, 7 months ago. It was stalled long
before that. But since i can't do anything right, i doubt i'd need it to offer
the
world anything i can do, who'd want that?

Lets not go into that again. Euforge is long past .. and it was very sick
before it died (now orkim has the url hosted on a machine he does not own and
only has permission to run the web server on).

I offered $100 for working code that i could plug in the "extras", no set up
permanent professional shell, but on a remote nix box. You accessing a
local box on on your lan doesn't count as remote. It hasto work when i put it
on a professional nix box. For $500, i want all the extras working, on a
professional host, running. Like i said before, you make it run, give me the
passwords to it so it's mine. Naturally, if this is hosted on a professional
shell, it hasto be ok with the hosting company.
But like you said in the next email:

Rob, when I run sanity.exw I get the following error:
c:\euphoria\bin\ex.exe seems to be incorrect.
Its check-sum (19620659) is wrong.

I just re-installed and ran "ex sanity.ex" on my machine
and it worked ok. 19620659 is the correct checksum for the
PD ex.exe for the 2.4 Official release. I suspect you
tried to run "exw sanity", i.e. exw sanity.exw, and you picked
up an old file named sanity.exw from somewhere on your PATH.
The official sanity test is sanity.ex, not .exw, though
you can also run it with exw sanity.ex or exu sanity.ex

The proxy should be able to work on another Linux system. I don't have one
handy that I can test it on, though.
Hope doesn't have to be lost yet, as there may be another who would be willing
to take my code and help test it on their own remote linux box or even go as
far as finding you a shell to host it on.

That was due to tripwire, which messed up all of Apache, not just the proxy.
(It also messed up quite a few other things, such as ssh.)

2.4 per our agreement. I looked in my forum email folder and in all

in my email that I could think of relevant search arguments. If you have
