Anyone can access newsgroups using Google newsgroups.

For instance look at:
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&group=alt.lang.euphoria

By "signing up" to google groups you are also allowed to post 
messages which I have done on other newsgroups.
I have never received any email from Google after signing up for the 
free newsgroup service.

Is it better than a Topica mailling list???

Do newsgroups go down as much as Topica?
Is there "as much" advertising associated with newsgroups?
For most people, are Usenet readers easier to use than email?

There is really no clear winner.
