This has been discussed in the past and here are the main reasons: 1. Not everybody has access to a news server that carries that newsgroup. 2. News servers don't always pick up every message posted to a newsgroup. 3. Not everybody knows how to use newsgroups. (Email or the Topica web interface is simply much easier for most users.) 4. If the newsgroup becomes active, it becomes a target for SPAM...
