It's not too fast on a fast system. It runs at about the same speed on a
550 MHz as it does on a 400 MHz PentiumII system. I've found that there is
a limit as to how fast a timer will respond regardless of the speed of the
CPU. I brought up this issue once before because I couldn't get the speed
I wanted with a standard timer even though I knew it could go faster. Once
the limit is reached (about 50 milliseconds/tick) all other timer events
are ignored.
