SUCCESS!

The problem may have started off with a reversal
of the link process libX11.so to: libX11.so.6.2

But I compounded the error by
placing /usr/X11R6/lib/ in my path.  Just now,
I changed that to /usr/X11R6/lib - rebooted
and it worked!
