1. DOS window does *not* go to full screen

Hi all,

I think many of you know this annoying behavior of ex.exe: When running
it the first time after creating a new small DOS window, it always makes
the window go to full screen. This problem is described in "trouble.htm",
and has also been discussed here.

On my PC at home (Win 98 1st ed.), this happens too, and I got more or
less used to it. So I was very surprised, when I run one of my Euphoria
DOS programs on a PC (Win 98 2nd ed.) at my office, and this problem did
*not* occur!! smile

Unfortunately I don't know much about the technical details of PCs.
Just to get started, I compared some files from the "windows\system"
folders:
- conagent.exe
- conlock.mod
- redirect.mod
- winoa386.mod
This 4 files are identical on both PCs.

What could be the reason for the different behavior? Do all of you have
this problem on Win 98 1st ed., and don't have this problem on Win 98
2nd ed.? Or maybe it's a hardware issue? My hope is, that I can solve
the problem on my PC at home, just by updating some files.

Regards,
   Juergen

Juergen:

It looks like a PIF matter. Right-click "Ex.exe" at your BIN folder and
select "properties". Then select a tab for "screen" (between "memory"
and "misc" tabs). Select window or full screen as you wish. By doing
this you'll be editing your ex.pif configuration file. That's all :)

Be good,

It was *not* expected, that there was *no* problem on the computer at my
office! smile

That's interesting. So after what I read, and after my own experience,
it seems that this problem
- exists on Win 95, Win98/1st ed
- doesn't exist on Win98/2nd ed, WinNT 4.0

I'd like to find out the decisive difference between Win98/1st ed and
Win98/2nd ed regarding this problem (or any other information that
solves the problem on Win98/1st ed).

Pifmgr.dll is also exactly the same file on both computers.

Sorry, in my previous post I forgot to mention, that I already did that.
I chose "normal window" on the "program" tab and "window" on the "screen"
tab.

This works fine on the computer at my office (win98/se), but not on my
computer at home (win 98, *1st* edition)!
