Hello, Has anyone here had experience of both Euphoria and Rebol? I have written some programs in a Dos Forth, and I want to find a Windows programming language which is as close to Forth's simplicity as possible. With either Euphoria or Rebol, can you write Windows programs simply, and can you call other programs easily? Also, in Euphoria --- can you make an executable file for export, or must the Euphoria interpreter be also resident? Thank you. Sincerely, Robert

Hi Robert, I have no experience with Rebol. Here is a link to the Euphoria Referance manual online section regarding methods of distributing Euphoria programs: http://www.rapideuphoria.com/refman_1.htm#5 Short answer - in order to distribute a standalone executable you will need to at least pay for the complete edition of Euphoria or buy the translator. I don't know about rebol, but as far as making windows programs, I have been using a G.U.I library created by David Cuny(a euphoria programmer) which kind of simulates windows. The interface looks just like windows and behaves like windows. If I were to compare the simplicity,I would definately say it was simple to program windows in euphoria using this library.Much simpler then, say, programming windows with visual c++.The library gives you quick control over the graphical elements and is almost constantly being updated by other users. Very simple, yet powerful,I havent found the same power/simplicity ratio anywhere. >From: Robert Tkoch <r at starcenter.com> >Subject: Euphoria & Rebol? also .exe file? > > >Hello, > >Has anyone here had experience of both Euphoria and Rebol? > >I have written some programs in a Dos Forth, and I want to find a >Windows programming language which is as close to Forth's simplicity >as possible.
