Is there any particular rules to posting to this list server that I should be aware of? I've just joined, and was wondering...

You even may find that you've gotten more help than you ever wanted...better than the alternative. Everett L.(Rett) Williams rett at gvtc.com

There aren't any strict rules, but I think everyone accepts the following: 1. Try to stay on the topic of Euphoria programming or closely-related issues. 2. Don't attach large files (larger than say 30K) to your messages, and especially avoid posting .exe files. I might also add the following: 3. Avoid quoting the entire, large message that you are replying to. Just pick out the relevant bits to remind us of what the other person said. After all, we have probably just read the other persons message, and it's still in our inbox. 4. If you find that you've posted 36 messages in the first 10 days of December, far more than anyone else, it might be time to relax and do some Christmas shopping or something. I won't mention any names, but his initials are Everett L.(Rett) Williams - whoops! There's some more information at: http://www.RapidEuphoria.com/listserv.htm Regards, Rob Craig Rapid Deployment Software http://www.RapidEuphoria.com

Mr. Dumer seemed to be one of the most devoted and likeable of the contributors to this list...regardless of one's opinion, positive or negative, of his code. The what seemed to be friendly competition between his and David Cuny's respective IDE's appeared to be causing both to mature rapidly. If there are copyright or patent issues, the rest of us need to know that because we may have code that is or will be dependent on that code. If RDS has pushed VEL and Damien off the archive and him off the list, the rest of us are flat owed an explanation. If Gary has requested that these actions be taken, then I am most sorrowful, but I would like confirmation of that request. It is hard to believe that someone would put that much effort into a really beautiful piece of work and then just abandon it and disappear. It is also unlikely that the work would disappear from the archive without some specific reason. If I have in my possession a library that has legal issues associated with it, and RDS has done nothing to inform me of that problem while carefully protecting itself. Well, let's just say that I might be a little piqued. Anybody that has knowledge of these issues, please post them on the list or to me privately. Everett L.(Rett) Williams rett at gvtc.com

I see it but I don't believe it....humor! =) I guess there really is a person behind all the answers to our silly questions. Regards, Greg Phillips

So would I. >If RDS has pushed VEL and Damien off the archive and him off the list, the >rest of us are flat owed an explanation I agree and think RDS should have made some sort of comment by now. To say nothing at all is wrong. What greatly disturbs me is that RDS seems to have no interest in building an IDE for Euphoria. I can't think of a better way to enhance Euphoria's use than RDS handling the base IDE. Really not very happy about this whole situation. :( jon

And I wouldn't suggest that, but, there must be a fairly good reason for Gary's stuff to be off the archive when there are items on there with cobwebs hanging off them whose authors haven't blipped on the list in a long time. >> If I have in my possession a library that has legal >> issues associated with it, and RDS has done nothing to inform me of >> that problem while carefully protecting itself. I have searched my mind for alternative thoughts as to this set of events and have voiced the ones that I thought were possible. Somebody took a positive action to remove VEL and Damien from the archive. That is more than somebody just going inactive on the list. I know that I personally have encouraged Gary both publicly and privately to continue his efforts. The fact that he has gone completely silent AND for some reason his stuff is off the archive is disturbing. I'd be happy with a "we have been requested not to comment" from RDS.
