And I wouldn't suggest that, but, there must be a fairly good reason for
Gary's stuff to be off the archive when there are items on there with
cobwebs hanging off them whose authors haven't blipped on the list in
a long time.

My main point is that I'm really sorry to see such a capable individual
desert us. I have searched my mind for alternative thoughts as to this
set of events and have voiced the ones that I thought were possible.
Somebody took a positive action to remove VEL and Damien from the
archive. That is more than somebody just going inactive on the list. I
know that I personally have encouraged Gary both publicly and privately
to continue his efforts. The fact that he has gone completely silent AND
for some reason his stuff is off the archive is disturbing. I'd be happy with
a "we have been requested not to comment" from RDS.
