When trying to compute a console application on Eu v4.2.0 rev 22b5124 using get_key() from std/console.e, I get the following error:
error: implicit declaration of function 'get_key' [-Wimplicit-function-declaration] Couldn't compile file 'entry.c' Status: 1 Command: gcc -fomit-frame-pointer -c -w -fsigned-char -O2 -m64 -I/usr/local/euphoria-4.2.0-Linux-x64 -ffast-math entry.c

I think I ran into this recently but I don't recall how I solved or worked around it. What platform are you on, and can you give a brief overview of how you built 4.2?

I use this version on Linux Mint Debian Edition Gigi (based on Debian Trixie) x64:
Euphoria Interpreter v4.2.0 release 64-bit Linux, Using System Memory Revision Date: 2025-01-24, Id: 22b5124
I downloaded euphoria_4.2.0_dev_22b5124_Linux64.tgz when it was available on github. It already contains binaries so I just had to move binaries to the right place.

Binaries of Eu 4.2.0 are still available here (Win64, Linux64): https://github.com/jm-duro/euphoria/releases/tag/22b5124

Hallo
I had similar problems with a new GCC on Windows.
You could test this here (in your eu.cfg)
[translate] -extra-cflags -std=gnu89or more explicitly
Here
[translate] -extra-cflags -std=gnu89 -Wno-error=implicit-function-declaration

Thank you Andreas, this does the job.

Hi Jean-Marc,
Which version of GCC caused the error for you?
If I'm interpreting the error correctly, it will occur with every newer version of GCC, regardless of the Euphoria version. The only question is which version of GCC it starts with.
For me, it was version 15.2.0. Everything was still working fine with tdm-gcc 10.3.0.

Hello Andreas,
gcc 14.2.0
[...]
Jean-Marc
Hello,
I tested gcc 13.2.0 again. Everything still runs without errors.
I also read that stricter rules apply starting with gcc 14
Stricter C conformance (now errors by default)
Constructs that have been deprecated since the C99 standard but previously only generated warnings now cause the build process to fail.
For me on Windows, this means I'll set aside the w64devkit version 1.22.0 with gcc 13.2.0 for now.
Maybe this information will help others as well.
Andreas
