The problem that I see is that they are only including Free software with the machine. Now I know that I have argued here that Euphoria *is* free, but it is kind of a chicken and egg problem * The source code to the interpreter is free, but doesn't work unless you use the non-free interpreter * Or translate it with the non-free translator Which may or may not be a problem. Note I'm using "Free" as in Libre, not as in no-cost. Even though Euphoria is an awesome language, and looking at some of the luminaries of computer science that are involved in this, I somehow doubt that they would be impressed. I think they are leaning towards a smalltalk-like or squeak-like language. Ok. I just read the Wired article. Very good. Negroponte does mention Squeak, Logo, and Scratch(??) in it. He also mentions C, which should have the commercial appeal that the interviewer is talking about. It would be very cool to get Euphoria on these things and give it a healthy dose of publicity, but I'm sure there are dozens of other software packages that authors would like to have included, but there wouldn't be space for them all! Of course, with networking, they'd be able to download it. Assuming Rob or someone could find a way to port Euphoria to the machine. Okay, so I think I'm starting to ramble so I'll just hit the Send Now... -- "Actually, I'm sitting on my butt staring at a computer screen." - Tom Tomorrow j.
