You could try contacting the manufacture to find out how to reset it.
You said shiny new? Then you have free tech support for x number
of days.  You can also take it back and trade for another within
y number of days.  My 1st suggestion is resetting it.  Just call the
800 number or whatever it is for tech support and find out how to
reset it.
