Re. whether or not to port to Linux, I just wanted to mention that a
friend of mine who does sattelite image work (custom, specialized stuff) has
been being told about Euphoria by me, and described by me. I keep telling
him that with his knowledge about file formats, etc... and Euphoria's
ability to handle bitmaps like it does that we could do an interesting file
viewer. He was interested, but doesn't want to take the time to learn the
language because it is not cross platform, and his real love back behind it
all is Linux, "the people's OS" I guess would be a way to describe his
feelings about Linux ( I think, trying to describe how someone else feels
about something is hard to do and sometimes not a correct interpretation),
but anyway, He feels that a Linux port would be important. I kept telling
him a Win32 port was on the way, and haven't been able to communicate with
him for a while, but will soon. He was really interested in the ability to
write one set of code and have it run on multiple types of computers.
I think a linux port would be important, but also I think maybe a
standardized windows library would be cool, even if it is just an
adoptation of the finalized win32lib.ew. And should be an important step.
After the compiler will run on the other OS's, someone will write
translators to and from them.
And I wish you wouldn't just release the source. I think both of you at
RDS are doing a great job, and wish I could afford to register...And will
someday soon.
    Thanks for your ears...
