Yes, from both - always get the "track 0 - unusable" error.

Thanks. This works, formatting the bad disks, and marking some tracks 
as  bad. I was then able to copy, and read back, some files, provided  they 
weren't  very large. 

Also, it displays a message something like "don't trust this disk."
I trust they'll wind up in a landfill somewhere....
