I remember laboriously copying programs, including punching in masses of hex code and ending up with some new wonder. My favorite in C64 days was an editor by a fellow named (uh, reaching back) Charles Brannon, I think. I learned a lot from reproducing it. If you are right that the USA is falling behind, I wonder why. As to "where the action is" in programming, I don't know. It is interesting you think it is Eastern Europe. Perhaps we need some sort of programmers' olympics to settle the matter. Sounds like fun. --Quark
