1. My Euphoria application is available

I wrote an application which has its user interface written using the IDE for
win32lib. I love programming in it. The application is on the recent
contributions page.
This computer program is an exact emulation of a toy which was sold years ago
called Magic Designer. It also once had the name Hoot Nanny. It is made out of
metal and comes with circular paper and colored pens. Needs Win32lib.ew version
0.60.6. Contact Akatz712 at gmail.com with any comments, suggestions, or issues
with this program.
I think it is important that people who write in Eurphoria share what they have
done, not just the tool makers. And I think it is more fun to write software I
like to write than to try to think of something that will make money.

Hi Andy,
Just wanted to say I agree with this. Tn times gone by, there were more
programs offered that were just for fun or were even just curiosities, some
that investigated some idea, or were like the "noodling" of some programmer --
ideas thrown off to illustrate a current fascination or to dig into a
knotty problem of graphics. While there is a lot to be said for earning
a living (like being able to eat) by one's computer ability, there is also
a lot to be said for using these "universal machines for pure creativity. It
may be no earlier generation has had so handy a way to make an idea so
explicit.

This reminds me of the time around 25 years ago. Back then I owned an Atari home
computer and there were so many magazines where people submitted their programs.
There was also something called bulletin boards in those days where people shared
software. This tradition goes way back. However, I feel that we are seeing more
and much better free software than ever before, simply because of the Internet
and world wide scope. And the majority of really good work is being done outside
the USA. I would say that Eastern Europe has the most creative programmers now.

Hello again,
As to magazines, they really got read and beat up with use -- sometimes they
were hoarded for months and years as sources of cool programming somewhere
down the road. I remember laboriously copying programs, including punching
in masses of hex code and ending up with some new wonder. My favorite in
C64 days was an editor by a fellow named (uh, reaching back) Charles Brannon,
I think. I learned a lot from reproducing it.
If you are right that the USA is falling behind, I wonder why. As to
"where the action is" in programming, I don't know. It is interesting
you think it is Eastern Europe. Perhaps we need some sort of programmers'
olympics to settle the matter. Sounds like fun.

but it crashed because it couldn't find coloredbuttons.ew.

I had no trouble with running Magic Designer, so I wonder why the different
experiences? I'm sure Robert checked it out...

Turns out I had this file in my include2 folder. It has this commentary
at the top:

Sorry to Matt, Chris, and Rob, and whoever else.
My application does not even use coloredbuttons (I do it differently with a
child window). So, either I can blame Judith for generating this include in the
IDE generated code, or myself for not finding an IDE option which includes this
file.
It is soon fixed in the recent contributions page.

IDE does not generate an include statement for coloredbuttons.ew unless you have
used the colored button Property cells. If you later remove information from
these Property cells the statement is not generated. If I recall you did use a
colored button in the early sample of the program you sent me. Then later you
wrote you changed to a colored Window. If you made this change without using IDE
I can see why the include statement might still be in your code.

Andy, I did some more searching and located for control R_A, a radio, in your
project file has a value in cbColor. This is suspect because cbColor should not
be used for Radio control. None of your other Radio controls have this attribute.
If you remove cbColor from R_A in your project file and save your file, next time
you generate the exw, IDE will not include coloredbuttons.ew.
I've not yet found a reason for Radio to use cbColor. Radio and other controls
use Color.

Thanks.
This is surely a strange one. And what you said fixed it. There is nothing in
the IDE which I could have done to fix this. And, this must be some legacy of how
I made my GUI. I did these radio buttons first, I remember. And I was just
learning the IDE, so who knows what crazy stuff I did.

Andy, I doubt this is your error unless you had edited the project file at some
point. IDE should have not added the include statement if the control were not
PushButton, ToggleButton, etc. button. I've put in a catch for that for the next
release.
