I have sinned...

I have sinned against myself and against humanity. I have committed the worst of all possible internet errors: I have flamed. Not only did I flame, but I did in unprovoked. I should't have used comments like "this must be a joke" and words like "silly." I apologize in advance of anybody flaming me back for it. I have to say that reading the responses to my ideas has made me look at programming from a much wider angle. David Cuny is, in many ways, and EU master and I have *a lot* to learn from him. Jiri, too, is very good. Most of what we disagree about seems to be summed up as this: the competition between what is neccessary for a compiler to function and what is good for program readability and ease of debugging. I won't bother to detail each and every issue, because there isn't a clear and simple right/wrong answer to these issues, it is a matter of preference. Again, I am sorry for being rude. John.
