Yes, Yaroze is a cool product, but it very expensive, as Bernie found out. It also will only play on other Yarose net-worked machines, ala Internet. That is not any good for what we (I) are looking for. Especially since Windows2000 (whichever version) has been publicly stated as not being DOS capable: no 16-bit apps, no 32-bit apps unless they comply to the NT API. This is coming up REAL SOON NOW, and do not count ont Windows98 to remain on the market for very long at all if the 2000-type versions sell well. This is what happened to me and many others with the Amiga, and almost with the Mac. I don't want it to happen again! This is also why, IMHO, one of the driving reasons that Robert Craig has started to port EU over to Linux, and I applaud him and all of you others that are working so hard on this. But perhaps I am being too alarmist. I would settle for a DOS EMULATOR that would run under QMX, or BeOS, or Playstation2, or Nintendo Dolphin, whatever. The key to this survival is DOS32 first, then Win32 second. Anyone out there know anything about building Shells on Kernals (using anything... C, C++, whatever) and is willing to at least offer guidance here about this? Incidently, I heard the other day that the Watcom Compiler is no longer going to be supported by its seller? Is this true, and if it is, will this cause troubles down the road for rolling out other permutations of EU? Regards, Norm
