Hmmm... I see what you're saying now. But to be honest, I don't think = things will unfold the way you're anticipating. Remember the CD-i? Or, just last year, a console-like game chip that was = suppose to be included in DVD players without cost, to try to slip in = and conquer the console market like a Trojan horse (I think the name was = M2)? Let's also not forget keyboards were made for the NES, the Saturn, = and even the Atari 2600, although not many people know about it. I think = the gaming industry's short history suggests that mixing console gaming = with general-purpose computing is usually a poor mix. Of course, I'm no industry expert; perhaps the PSX2 *will* be the first = system to suceed as a "home entertainment computer". But if that's where = it's headed... well, I hate to say it, but I think there would be other = languages that would be a better choice. Something more network-based, = extremely portable, supporting generic combos such as your console = plugged to your DVD player, or your computer to your console joypad. I = think Java or a derivative would be a better choice than Euphoria here, = or maybe that OS Nintendo and Sun are working on (not that Sony would = liscence it, but you get the idea.) I am not suggesting that Euphoria try to compete with the lower level languages for building commercial games on the Playstation2. I am say = that there is a golden opportunity available right now for people who believe that this gaming platform also looks like the next wave in home = computing power. It is NOT committed to the Windows system. It HAS NO operating system yet. It contains the MOST powerful chip of its type ever created for anything. It will sell over 40 million units just for the consoles, just like its older sibling. What I am saying is that this is not about adding to it as a gaming machine, but look at it with the intent that it will possibly become a solidly established platform, capable of = performing all of the things that we know do with PC's. I would like to know if there is anyone else out there who wants to help investigate the possiblities of this becoming a Euphoria break-out, = capable of supplying a shell to build super-applications on, not just games. Anyone out there interested? If you are, then go check out some of the sites for this thing, such as www.absolute-playstation.com and there are many others where people are just going crazy over this machine and its potential.
