First of all, don't use Internet Explorer. That is the main cause of these kind of problems. Use Opera, or Firefox. I use Opera, for surfing, and e-mail. I use Firefox for the few websites that don't work well with Opera. Both browsers work perfectly on Win98. If it's an older, slower machine, I would recommend Opera, which starts faster, runs faster, is much smaller, yet has a lot of features that make surfing more productive. Try Opera or Firefox for a week or two, and you probably won't go back to Internet Explorer. About spyware: I suggest you download both Adaware and Spyboy S&D. I use those 2, since they use different scanning techniques, and they both find spyware that the other doesn't find. There are probably also other good spyware cleaners, but I only use those 2, since they're free. Also, you need a firewall and an anti-virus program. To get you started: Opera: http://www.opera.com Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox Adaware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware Spybot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download -- The Internet combines the excitement of typing with the reliability of anonymous hearsay. tommy online: http://users.telenet.be/tommycarlier tommy.blog: http://tommycarlier.blogspot.com
