That's pretty much what I think. I didn't say anything at the time all this development was going on because it would have made no difference (I'm just a "Joe User", not a skilled C programmer who could have contributed), and besides, it surely would have come across as churlish.

I paid for Euphoria updates for years and was happy to do it. Not knocking open source, and of course it was Rob's decision, but IMO it would have been better if he could have stayed on as a "benevolent dictator". Design by committee doesn't really work very well.

Anyway, I'm not complaining. Eu 3 suits my needs perfectly and I'll be sticking with it. It's a pity it's not being maintained any more, although I doubt there are many bugs (I haven't found any yet).

Regarding Euphoria's niche, there still seems to be very little consensus on what it is.
