Actually, if you have access to a Mac, Objective-C is among the more in-demand freelance languages due to the popularity of Apple's line. PHP is also in demand, but usually in conjunction with Joomla, Wordpress, OSCommerce or other such packages. I like guru.com over Scriptlance; but that's just me. Freelancing isn't like local B2B consulting. Expect to earn not much more than US$10/hour if you actually want to get awarded any jobs. Also, you have to have a pretty extensive portfolio that you can actually show. Some people do very well at it, but often those are people who are doing it full-time and then some.
