Any freelance programmers here?

I've made a little money programming but only on a word of mouth basis and am thinking about signing up at one of the freelance programmers sites. Just wondering if there are any freelancers here and if so what would you recommend? (and avoid). I hear that rentacoder and scriptlance are reputable.
Also, I ASSUME that I'd need to learn (at least) one other programming language, any advice on which is the most "saleable"? Ideally, I'd like to program exclusively in Euphoria and Linux but I think that's unrealistic. As far as I'm aware it's still pretty much a Windows-centric world out there.
I'm not much into web programming but I'm assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that that's where most of the work will be, so perhaps Javascript and/or PHP would be a good move.
