Hi

Depends

1. Is the disc multi partitioned with different op systems, or multi
partitioned with xp?

2. Does the computer boot xp at all?

3. If you have a win 98 partition, you could boot to that and use NTFS reader
for dos. Or you could use the rescue system of the winxp CD - see
http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm

4. If that fails, and the disc is still running (I had a similar dieing disc
problem)
you could get a usb2ide cable, about 30-40 (dollars/pounds - take your pick,
lucky yanks!), and access it with that - would need to buy a new hard drive
and re install your os - make sure you at least dual boot 98/xp.
