1. DosLinux HELP!

Anyone, I decided to give DosLinux a try, I have installed the DosLinux Loop, and all look good. I am having problems trying to get the XFREE86 Window System set up, I assume it is a problem with the way I am setting up my Video. I have an S3 Trio64V+ 2 MB card installed, I choose number 484 on the card list, which seems to be the closest to my card. I am not giving it a Clock Chip (it told me not to) I also am telling it n to doing the clock probe. When I execute startx it gives me a screen full of information, then switches modes and on the last screen it tells me something along the lines of can not find dot-clock for mode "1024X768" then the next line tells the same thing for mode "800x600" and then again for mode "640x480" then it bombs out. Thanks In Advance, and any Help would be greatly appreciated: Later, -- + + + Rev. All, If anyone else has the problem with startx telling them that there is no defined dot-clock matching mode "800x600" or some other mode. I fixed the problem by answering q to the RAMDAC question in xf86config. Sorry for asking this on the listserv, but I knew not where to turn for an answer. Now to install EUPHORIA. Sorry, I missed your original post, I guess I was sleep reading again =) Anyways, I've got the same card as you in my older 120, and experience the exact same problem. I also managed to get it working in the exact same manner...great (or frustrated) minds think alike, I guess : ) Regards, Greg Phillips Ferlin Scarborough wrote: > All, > > If anyone else has the problem with startx telling them that there > is no defined dot-clock matching mode "800x600" or some other mode. When I link the /dev/psaux to /dev/mouse and try to use gpm or startx they both tell me that there is no such device. If I set it to /dev/ttyS0 it will load startx, but of course I can't use the mouse. I tried to download msbusmouse.o and when I try to issue the modprobe msbusmouse.o it tells me the device is busy. Any help would be appreciated, I am looking forward to giving DosLinux a try, it sure does load faster than my Red Hat. Later, -- + + + Rev. Give this a try: Run xf86config again, and when it asks for your pointer device, select number 4 (ps/2) Then, when it asks you to type the mous device, use /dev/psaux Sometimes using the device directly instead of linking it works better. Ferlin: When you use a PS2 mouse the software you are using must look for the mouse on INTERRUPT 12 instead on of interrupt or int-4 (com1) or int-3 (com2). (Some drivers find the mouse automatically like windows does). This may be your problem. Bernie
