I've noticed that the great H2O Forum
(http://h2osoft.homeip.net/phpbb2/index.php) isn't used by many people.
And I wonder why? I find it a lot cleaner than (the web-interface of)
the Topica Mailing List. I think the Euphoria-community would benefit
from using it more often. Currently, there are 37 members. I think
that's nice, but it could be a lot more.
Euphorians, take a look at the H2O Forum and think of what it can do for
you, and what you can do for it!

Agreed. I especially like the way the main page displays the categories, along
with the last poster in each category. That way I can see immediately if
someone has answered a question I posted, or whatever. And I can ignore
DOS discussions (or I could, if there _were_ any DOS discussions:)
Also nice is the e-mail notifications when messages are posted to a forum
you want to "watch".
Perhaps one way to get more activity would be to set up some tutorial
categories. People who are interested could participate without bothering
those who weren't (as would happen with Topica).

Thanks for the vote of confidence Irv and Tommy.
Irv, what category would you say tutorials should be in?
Current setup permits discussion in many of the more popular
discussions that occur on the EuForum (topica) as I see them.
Please let me know if you would like to add a specific forum
topic and it will appear as soon as I read your email.
Al Getz asked for a forum for his new WinClass OO library
to spark interest in his library (which is nicely done btw Al)
Although no activity in this forum the author in this case should
find this type of forum will allow him/her to collectively monitor
questions and keep track of these questions so guiding users to
this collective spot can help the author and user audience.
I can allow authors to moderate a particular forum topic so they
would have edit and deletion power, if I am unable to monitor
topics to suit their needs.
There is an off topic arena that would allow off topic discussion
but those messages are automatically deleted from the database
after they reach 14 days old. Most of the other forums do not
have a time limit.
I hoped to have a dialup bandwidth savy interface up by now but
as with all new projects come the inevitable initial flaws.
Currently the default forum style is fairly small and pretty fast to load.
If you havent taken a look or are an older member take a new look.

By all means, please let me know of any problems you may have.
I knew of a few issues that seem to have been fixed or, is what Ive
been told. There is a refresh issue that resides if the user uses MSIE
Im still traking this down, I did make some changes that seemed to
help most users out though.

When it is available, it has always worked fine. Unfortunately, over the past
few weeks, there seems to have been a lot of downtime. Hopefully that's fixed
now.

I'd say keep the topics as they are - for questions and answers about
specific things. Then have a separate "Tutorials" topic, where there could
be beginner, moderate, and advanced threads.
The problem with Topica is that after a few days, messages are no longer
easy to find, even with RDS' search facility, so it's a poor place for
tutorials which might be useful to someone far into the future.
The problem with hosting tutorials on a web page is that there is a lack of
interaction (unless there's some kind of blog), and peoples' questions can be
as useful as the answers. So it seems as if the forum would be a good place
for such a thing.
