I'd say keep the topics as they are - for questions and answers about specific things. Then have a separate "Tutorials" topic, where there could be beginner, moderate, and advanced threads. The problem with Topica is that after a few days, messages are no longer easy to find, even with RDS' search facility, so it's a poor place for tutorials which might be useful to someone far into the future. The problem with hosting tutorials on a web page is that there is a lack of interaction (unless there's some kind of blog), and peoples' questions can be as useful as the answers. So it seems as if the forum would be a good place for such a thing.
