--------------Boundary-00=3D_U1J21W3712S000000000 charset=3D"iso-8859-1" I wrote out a tab-delimited file with a key and five fields. I did not put quotes around any of the fields. The first could either be alpha or alpha numeric (ex: 379.31 or V43.1). The rest of the fields are all apha. I imported it using the edb.ew program. I created a new standard edb file (no= t sql) and said NO when it asked about creating a primary key. When I looke= d at the table that was created, under KEY was my key, under DATA1 was my key= again, under DATA3 was my first field, under DATA4 was my second field, etc= .=0D =0D All the information was there, but I have the key twice and no DATA1 column= . When I enter data into the database using the program I wrote, then look a= t it with edb.exw it's all entered properly. =0D =0D Any ideas why this is happening? --------------Boundary-00=3D_U1J21W3712S000000000 Content-Type: Text/HTML; charset=3D"iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"IncrediMail 1.0" name=3DGENERATOR> <!--IncrdiXMLRemarkStart> <IncrdiX-Info> <X-FID>FLAVOR00-NONE-0000-0000-000000000000</X-FID> <X-FVER></X-FVER> <X-CNT>;</X-CNT> </IncrdiX-Info> <IncrdiXMLRemarkEnd--> </HEAD> <BODY style=3D"BACKGROUND-POSITION: 0px 0px; FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 5px 1= 0px 10px; FONT-FAMILY: Arial" bgColor=3D#ffffff background=3D"" scroll=3Dye= s ORGYPOS=3D"0" X-FVER=3D"3.0"> <TABLE id=3DINCREDIMAINTABLE cellSpacing=3D0 cellPadding=3D2 width=3D"100%"= border=3D0> <TBODY> <TR> <TD id=3DINCREDITEXTREGION style=3D"FONT-SIZE: 12pt; CURSOR: auto; FONT-FAM= ILY: Arial" width=3D"100%"> <DIV>I wrote out a tab-delimited file with a key and five fields. =0D =0D -------Original Message-------=0D =0D From: EUforum at topica.com=0D Subject: EDS Database import seems to skip a field=0D Hmmm. Seems that I might have sent a blank e-mail.=0D =0D On another computer I wrote a basic program that output the contents of a file in tab-delimited order. =0D The file contained an alpha numeric key and 4 alpha fields. I didn't enclose anything in quotes.=0D I used edp.exw to create a database and import the file. After it was imported I looked at the table =0D using edb.exw. Under KEY was my key. Under DATA1 was my key (again).=20 Under DATA3 was =0D my first field, DATA4 had the 2nd field and likwise up to DATA7 which had m= y field 5.=0D =0D Why is my key showing up both under KEY and DATA1. What happened to DATA2?= =0D =0D When asked if I wanted o create a primary key I said no. I also said no when it asked if I wanted to create and eusql database.=0D =20
