1. MOD player and maker program for windows

This is off topic. Sorry.

Are there any free MOD design programs for WIN95 that I can get my hands on?
I have fast tracker 2, but it is dos-based, and my damn Aptiva seems to
consist of nothing but conflicts (there are problems with sound, mouse AND
screen). I get no sound from FT2, so I need a WIN95 based thing till I can
educate my computer to act grown-up.

You can try the ModPlug tracker. The playback is excellent, but I hate =
the interface. It *is* customizable, however. VersaTracker is apparently =
in the style of FastTracker, and is also for Win32, but I've never tried =
it.

Take a look at:

Personally, I prefer Impulse Tracker, but that's also DOS based.=20

Heck, I even *registered*. blink

Go to www.castlex.com/Modplug

You can find the Modplugin for win95: Both netscape 2+ and IE3+
You can also find a win95 player and *tracker* by this French guy.
Completely freeware, but it seems its gonna be a classic.

BTW About your FT2 problems, I would suggest you try booting up in DOS, and
remember to put your win95 Soundcard to SoundBlaster mode.

Furhter more, (cause of memory), when you boot dos-based (it uses a
different autoexec.bat and config.sys) you can specify the precize
configuration you want. Try not loading too many drivers, esspecially emm386
can be annoying under DOS (get a newer version, or turn the memory hole just
above the video memory off in your BIOS)

ANd last advice is: Always visit the web sites of your hardware, they
*always* have more complete and more up-to-date drivers available.. I just
got a new PC, and found more up-to-date drivers for my video card, modem,
soundcard, and monitor, I rest my case.. (and I found them a week after I
bought the PC, but then again.. it was from Vobis.. sad

hmm don't listen to them, modplug tracker is the most evil thing in existence...
  if you're feeling
really adventurous, you can try buzz (www.buzz.scene.org), but that's really
 wack and only handles
it's own native files (.bmw, .bmx)

if you're looking to make .xm, .s3m, .mod files, you must use versatracker,
 though
(http://www-inst.eecs.berkeley.edu/~kagrama/vst/). the interface is great, and
 it even runs under
win nt 4.0 :)
