First of all, did you read Bonn Ortloff's message? The new mailing list
has a specific purpose.

Second of all, how in the world is he going to ask people his question? =

Send mail to all 250 on this list?

Third of all, it is not rude, in my opinion, the way he said it. In fact=
,
it may be good. Every weekday afternoon, I come home and check my e-mail=
=2E =

I keep checking it until just before I go to bed. As an example, this
afternoon I found there were 24 new messages about Euphoria and three
others. If traffic per list could be reduced, it could relieve the load =
on
this list (and may meaningfully relieve the server at Miami University). =
 I
don't know, but it is premature to say someone is rude.

I would like a list devoted to source code, etc. But I have some
reservations about this list. I mean, the lines would kind of need to be=

drawn, or its purpose would be pointless. Second, for my person benefit =
(I
suspect many others never thought of this), but when I open my mailbox I
see the list of messages. I like to retrieve the non-Euphoria messages
first, since now those are a minority. I can only see about 16 character=
s
in the from field without opening the message. My point is, I wish the n=
ew
list would be distinuishable from the old list's FROM: field, so I can pu=
t
them in separate cabinet drawers.

Yes, I read it, but if I look at the threads of messages 9/10 threads
contain messages classifed as source code as well as messages classified as
discussion or whatever purpose you left over for this mailing list.
I mean why clone something that is already there ?
99/100 messages would go to your new list serv, and other one in the week
would stay on the other list.
Simply because most threads *start* with a problem, followed by a source
code solution, and a discussion in some cases. At some point we have to jump
over to a new list serv ? Why ? We still get them all in the same mailbox.

As I recall those 250 already have a mailing list. Try other people.

Some1 provides us this list. You now the figure of speech "looking a given
horse in the mouth" ?? Discussion a new list is like: thanks, but can do
this better ourselves.

Thanks to the MS-Inbox assistent, all Euphoria messages already go into a
special cabinet here.
You from *field* is not used by any assisten, the real email addres of the
person that has sent you a message is used. That's the way I did it.
If you want to seperate the type of message on this list serv, ask people to
begin a subject with a word or something to show the type of message.
"BF:" --> I can't fix this bug --> BUG FIX REQUESTED
"BR:" --> I found a bug in some1 elses code
"LT:" --> I have a new suggestion for Euphoria --> Language Theory
"OFF:" --> A 100% OFF topic message about, for example, CD-ROMS.

You can set any inbox assistent to handle this.. so why not use these rules,
if you boys want some ordening in your mail box ??

BTW All list-server message, have a "tab" infront oif their subject line
here. (WIN95+IE4; OUTLOOK EXPRESS)

3. Re: I would like a separate list...

I have to say that I agree 100% with Ralf on this issue. One of the great
things with this mailing list is that you can send request for help or code,
and you will get it because there are a lot of helpful persons here. Why
move it to another list? Why have two lists that discuss the same problems
when you really need only one? ALL the code discussion wanted on the other
list can and is done here. I've been here for a little over a year. This
list is for Euphoria code and help, off topic mails are usually triggered by
those requests. (Although I DO agree that sometimes there is a bit too much
wierd stuff on this list. But that happens to all lists.)

So I may not be too picky, why don't we find out who wants what, and i'll
pull out.. drr... I hate to say (because it sounds rude to me), what I don't
want/like in it, and put it back out. Sounds good?
