1. Alpha music 'plugin' for Language War

Hello all,

I've been working on some FM music stuff for Adlib and Sound Blaster
compatibles in the last couple days. I'm off to a pretty good start,
seeing as I don't know anything about music... :)

Hopefully, if I understand what I'm doing enough, I'll be able to add
support to load and play MIDI files. Right now, I have up to one
instrument going, and I can't change the instrument, but I can play 12
notes in 7 octaves.

Anyway, I've stumbled across a neat tune while testing (just some random
notes that I typed it that actually sound decent together), and thought
"This would be pretty cool, if annoying and repeatetive, game music." So
just a couple minutes ago, I threw a sloppy music module for Language War
together. The music is cheap and WILL get on your nerves, but you can
change it...

If anybody is interrested in it, tell me, and I'll send it to you. It's
been tested on one computer so far (out of the 3 here), and requires a
little modification to the code in LW. The only bug is when the phasers
fire, the music hangs. This problem will be solved with the new release
of LW (Rob said earlier that the phasers and stuff don't stop the game
like they do now), but I'll look into it to see if I can solve it for
this version.

Later on, I'll add support for dynamic music. (A quick victory music for
blasting a C ship, a different tone when you low on energy, etc.)

If I get enough requests, I'll post it to the list...

(And anybody who could explain to me how to use different instrument
sounds can speak up, too. :)

Yes, very interested! I've been looking for something that can handle most
MIDI files, but is as straightforward to use as SFX2.e I am working on a
game right now, and if I have to convert MIDI files to WAV's, it'll be a
250MB program! I'll be happy to test out whatever you've got, and please
keep me posted!

Thanx
