The web server does NOT "phone home" in any way, shape or form - the=20 source files are there for you to inspect and modify, I have hidden=20 nothing. My stuff just does the HTTP and EGI / CGI stuff. The VB version was also written by me and that didn't phone home either.= =20 As you said, perhaps there is something in WinSock or other libraries=20 not written by me. Is there a 'hacked' version out there ? the official=20 download site is :- www.legend-i.demon.co.uk Perhaps someone could transplant it onto a Linux box and see how it=20 performs. Does anyone know why the POST method does not work on NetScape ? All fears put to rest I hope Regards --=20 Peter Blue IT Director - Legend Interactive Ltd Technical Director - Platinum Communications Ltd Please visit our web sites http://www.yes-property.co.uk - International Estate Agents http://www.legend-i.demon.co.uk - Legend Interactive Ltd =1A

So I restored (approx!) 368 windows system files off the CD. It still does it ;-( One thing it might well be is just normal dynamic DNS/keep alive connects. They all seem to resolve to somewhere on blueyonder (my ISP), so the evidence does point away from anything to do with you & your code. I'm a bit of a novice with all that stuff though. I'll keep looking. Pete

Usually this is the domain name server on your isp, but i point mine to one of the internet registrars as primary resolver. It takes 100ms longer, maybe, but they are sure to have it, and i can't type much in 100ms anyhow. If your primary and secondary don't resolve it, winboxes will attempt to ask an ip directly what it's name is, which is how some people on irc know you tried to dns them. Kat
