------=_NextPart_000_000B_01C08531.6C7B8560 charset="iso-8859-1" Well, my virtual machine is coming along well. It already runs my small boot sector, but I've run into a little snag. After it prints a message, it enters a loop that keeps jumping to itself. After several seconds, it crashes. The bad thing is, I don't have the registered version of Euphoria. Could anyone debug this for me? ------=_NextPart_000_000B_01C08531.6C7B8560 name="XVM.ZIP"

Don't you think that sort of defeats the purpose of registering? I don't think it would be fair to those of us who have purchased Eu to do so. I think it's a good incentive for you to get a reg'd copy. It's cheap!! After all, you are making a VM. That's a fairly sophisticated prog, not to mention you've been around here for quite a while now. I think it's 'bout time, you have certainly had more than enough time to get your fingers dirty with the PD version. You really shouldn't be developing apps with a shareware programming language.. Can't say your still learning the ins and outs of EU anymore.. I've got nothing against you, it's the principle of the matter.. Regards, Chris

<snip> >I've got nothing against you, it's the principle of the matter.. <snip> Chris, I have nothing against you either but people such as Matt have their own reasons why they have not registered (yet?). I see no reason why people should adhere to your definition of when it is right and proper to register shareware. Euphoria, as far as I know, does not have a X days trial period licence on the public domain copy. It is left to the individual to decide if and when. I respect your opinions and if you do not wish to help people with problems that can only be easily solved with a fully registered version then fine. I just don't think it's nice to try and make out on the list that these people are trying to get something for nothing. In my view they are not - all they would like is some help. If you consider this a "flame" then my apologies - it is not meant to be. I guess it's just a principle thing of mine. Regards, Andy Cranston.

In my view > they are not - > all they would like is some help. Both of you have some good points, however, I have to agree with Chris here. What Matt (different Matt, BTW) said was that he wasn't able to easily debug using the PD version, and asked for a registered user to help. Even though you can't get detailed error reports from the PD version, there are a lot of things that can be done to debug (ie, write your own log file or print to the screen). If he'd at least mentioned that he'd done all this, and did more of the initial foot work, I'd respect his request a lot more. Not that I don't understand the frustration. That's what finally got me to register. :) But sending a project with multiple files, and not giving any clue about what's going wrong (not to mention how it's _supposed_ to work) probably won't sit well with most registered users, "The bad thing is, Idon't have the registered version of Euphoria. Could anyone debug this for me?" Now, if he asked some people who'd already agreed to collaborate on the project, that would be another matter... Matt Lewis
