Someday, years from now, those people who knew me now will exclaim "wow, she was right!" but they will not be able to say that on the internet. Microsoft claims to have an interest in what is going on, and what better way than to offer free email, read and archive that email, and then make money by selling advertising in the emails? What will they possibly use those emails for? Heh. Before the lawsuit was final in the OS/browser monopoly wars, MS split off their Ai program, so it would not be affected in any way by the lawsuit. You can bet it will be learning about actual human writing habits by practicing on those emails, and remembering them. Just wait 10 years (or less), when MS makes it available online, and ask it what *your* favorite color is. Kat

Interesting. For quite some time now I=92ve been experimenting with AI. Some of the th= ings I have done involved training systems using my archived e-mails. This see= ms to be an effective method. No doubt many others have had the same idea. I= =92ve also let some of my programs eaves drop on chat rooms using MS Chat. It happens to be very well suited for that sort of thing. Just imagine what = MS AI must have over heard any one of us say in irc. If you don't like it, you gotta pay for it; only then should you have a right to complain. As the story stated: "Other companies besides Hotmail also may be blocking outgoing mail, but because they don=92t always notify customers, it=92s difficult to determi= ne whether it=92s happening unless someone complains." I certainly wouldn't use a free email account for my daily email. Free email is a means of obtaining anonymity when you sign up for stuff. (Or = a way to play out delusions of grandure with multiple personalities, in the case of one of our community members.) In this way, it acts as a filter for your real email. But that's just my opinion... YMMV -- Brian PS: I usually just use the web interface for interacting with this list. Quite convenient and no worry's about formatting or 'reply-to:' settings, etc.
