I think the best way to connect a Windows machine to the net is via some Linux/FreeBSD machine with NAT & firewall. btw This is not bugtraq. btw #2 I am now toying with an idea of having some better connection to the net (perhaps a home-made optical link), so I could possibly host some Euphoria projects (if I get public IP or via some obscure portnumber). Hold on for the details Martin

Yeas, some day i hope to not give a #$&%^ about warning people of problems. Forgive me this time, please, i know some on this list run XP. I was concerned. I'll prolly write some code in mirc to filter my emails so i don't send anything helpful again. Kat

And it's not like there is a college course where i can pay someone to give me a hand with Eu and windows event/gui programming. (my webpages with strtok is offline till i can get a reliable Eu server running here) And despite having an electric car back in the 70's, and soldering a decade before then, i got so tired of idiots online telling me i can't solder that i left the EV listserv too. I hear a neighbor here is looking for shit to start up with me, because i won't let his dogs use me as a chewtoy and my driveway as a litterbox. I am working the skin off my hands and knees to get this House done, so i can get insurance before the neighbor burns it down. And i take a lil time and electrons to say something about XP so you guys (and Judith) don't get burned, and the only reply i get is (paraphrasing) "don't tell us here, if they don't know to read bugtraq, they get what they deserve!". Kat, I was not offending you. I just think it is not needed to announce every bug. People here are also running Linux, so we can post bugs in Linux, and wait, FreeBSD bugs too... If anybody is interesed in the optical link I will perhaps build : http://ronja.advel.cz Peace, Martin

One can expect the average FreeBSD/Linux user to be subscribed to the appropriate lists or newsgroups for bug reports ... otoh the average Windows user is not. I'm rather neutral on the topic myself ... I don't want it since its an off-topic item, but if someone else volnteers it, I don't mind either (even if its about Windows, its still an interesting tidbit to read). This is not the best forum for Windows bugs to be posted, but its not the worst either. (Posting such bugs in, say comp.os.linux.advocacy, now THAT is definately a lot worse.) Quite naturally, if someone else posts a bug about Linux or FreeBSD, I won't mind that either ... jbrown -- /"\ ASCII ribbon | http://www.geocities.com/jbrown1050/ \ / campain against | Linux User:190064 X HTML in e-mail and | Linux Machine:84163 /*\ news, and unneeded MIME | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You too can spend five years in prison; just distribute this program once US Senator Hollings's CBDTPA bill is passed into law: perl -e 'while(<>) { print;}' -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Send your email first class

Same here. After all, she did say it was off topic in the subject. If someone doesn't want to read off topic material, they don't have to. As far as I'm concerned, the more information, be it about security or something else, the better. jbrown105 at speedymail.org wrote >I'm rather neutral on the topic myself ...
