3. Re: Lotus Notes Compatibility

I was only thinking one way, but I both ways is easily possible yes. It
would be a LotusScript agent (and maybe a fiew views) that you imported to
whatever database you wanted to extract info from. This would in turn
create a EDS database at the location of your choice. You could then
manipulate this data however you wish. Then (I hadn't thought of doing
this before but it wouldn't be very hard) you could import the modified
data and it would replace your old data. For example in Notes you have a
db and in the db is the following document

Form: Contact
Name: CK
Address: 1234 Main St.
City: Somewhere
State: Someplace

You could extract it to your EDS file change it and then replace it with
any changes you make.

On a related note, I've started working on an ODBC wrapper. So far, I've
only used it on Access, but it shouldn't have any difficulty connecting to
anything for which you have an ODBC driver. It's not quite ready for
release.

So far, I've only connected using DSN's, not connect strings. Turned out to
be easier than I thought. :)

PS Kat, when I mentioned commercial DB apps, I was really talking about
writing a front end to something like Notes/Oracle/SQL
Server/DB2/Informix/Progress etc. Namely, the type of DB corporations tend
to run, and where the front ends are often written in VB.

5. Re: Lotus Notes Compatibility

I'll be using Lotus Notes as my web server and if I could use EUPHORIA to
enhance some of the functionality, that would be very nice indeed!

Well since I've gotten such a positive response from you (it only takes one
person to need something to make it worthwhile), you should see it soon.
I'll make it is a sample Lotus Notes Database that you can copy the
LotusScript and necessary views from and paste them into your own database
design.

Matt,

I=92ve been trying to put together a direct connect to Borland=92s Interb=
ase
product but have not had as much time as I had hoped to work on it. The
ODBC direction would be nice interim work-around.

Lotus Notes has a ODBC connection, if you don=92t have it already check i=
t
out:
I've used it to connect Notes DB with Access.

Address for =93Notes SQL 3.0=94
