This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0005_01C047B7.1981D420 charset="iso-8859-1" I read somewhere that you may not export "strong" cryptographic products . Why ? I recently made a program that is used to hold secret data for the user . I got complaints about my program not being very secret at all . In fact , it was a breeze to veiw the information . Now I want to use strong cryptography but i`m not sure if it is legal . So , what sould I do ? And I dont see why it would be illegal . Is the government scared they cant see what you are doing . But that means they allready know what we are doing .... Scarry stuff . Well , if there is any way you can help me , i`ll be very happy . This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_004A_01C199DE.EECEBC40 charset="iso-8859-1" The reason the Government wont allow such things is because of what took place in Pearl-Harbor.. They must have a way to decipher transmissions when they feel like it's neccasary. Many people died at Pearl-Harbor because the messages that were encrypted , encoded were not broken until it was too late. This just brings back the idea that we as a society are oppressed in many ways. Try using a HASH routine, they arent concidered encryption methods but are reasonably strong. One such algorythm is SHA1, Davi Tassinari de Figueiredo has one such implementation on his web-site that can be used fairly easy with Euphoria. http://davitf.n3.net/ Euman ----- Original Message ----- From: mwfch at MWEB.CO.ZA To: EUforum Sent: Monday, November 06, 2000 9:02 AM Subject: Cryptography I read somewhere that you may not export "strong" cryptographic products . The US Gov places high-level encryption in the same catergory as nuclear arms, for some paranoid reason. You should be fine unless your program is exported out of country, although im not 100% sure. :( jbrown -- Linux User:190064 Linux Machine:84163 http://jbrown105.1avenue.com

Ferdinand, >From your email address, it appears (?) that you're not in the U.S. So if you're not *in* the U.S., then I don't think you have to concern yourself about U.S. laws prohibiting exporting anything *out* of the U.S. Dan Moyer ----- Original Message ----- From: <mwfch at MWEB.CO.ZA> To: "EUforum" <EUforum at topica.com> Subject: Cryptography I read somewhere that you may not export "strong" cryptographic products . Aparently it haven't helped to prevent the 9.11. disaster... 1984 is coming ... Am I paranoid ? Luckily I don't live in the U.S Martin
