1. Jiri's Flames, EuOS, Euphoria's Place

After reading the suggestion pointed to Matt to combine some of his message,
I jumped back to a some time ago, when I also did this. It helps some people
out here on the list, that have no interest in my mail, or are pretty
uncapable of handling it. (point of perspective)

First of all, Matt, although I too admit its annoying to get 5 to 10 mails a
day containing 1 or maybe 2 if we're lucky lines. But Jiri was kinda mean,
since you mean it all well, and are just obviously enthousiastic for
Euphoria. In other words, listen to the advice, but dont take it personally,
it seems Jiri is either making a point of something or flaming some one
down, because he is a bit annoyed by the person. Im not gonna judge this
dominant behaviour, but I want you too know, not all Euphorians on this
list, share his opinions or at least his tone of voice.

I would love to see a program that shows off Euphoria, but there are already
a few very nice ones out there. Think of TextGUI. A whole toolkit, in how
much code ? Capable of opening any file of any size for editing. Automatic
virtual memory if you ran out of memory. Etc. Pretty nice, I think.

But we can always do better, can't we. Some one mentioned the EuOS project.
No offense, but that wont ever happen. First of all, we need to convert
Euphoria to a .com, we need to have code for all places where Euphoria calls
interrupts. (which are functions of the current host operating system).
Plus, most OS cores are written in C and ASM, for the logical reasons. It
has to be really small. It has to have 100% machine control. Etc. A shell is
possible, but I wouldnt wait for that either. OS'es are either built with
marketing or good ideas.

No, I would like to see a Norton Commander clone. Preferbly using a
graphical dos GUI (david's or Irv's) .. a complete package, with file
viewers, etc. And see how small and safe that will run. (a html viewer!) And
a plug-in editor (for viewers, etc.) so people actually see Euphoria code.
That might get some new fans.

No offence Ralf, but it is going through. Think about it. We can't possibly
do a real super-duper OS (unless we try blink in Euphoria. I'm thinking of
re-writing the whole thing in C++, but Euphoria is good enough now.
