The Official Release of Euphoria 2.2 for WIN32+DOS32
is now available from:
http://www.RapidEuphoria.com/v20.htm
There weren't many changes from the Beta release.
No bugs were found in the Beta. Only a few minor
improvements were implemented for the Official Release.
That means we now have an Official Release of
version 2.2 for all three platforms: WIN32, DOS32 and Linux.
After each Official Release we redistribute Euphoria
to the big sites around the Internet, such as Ziff Davis, SimTel etc.
Our goal with 2.2 was to get compatible versions
of Euphoria running across WIN32, DOS32 and Linux.
We avoided adding new features to this WIN32+DOS32
release that were not already available in the
Linux 2.2 release. In version 2.3 we will implement new
core language features and optimizations for all platforms,
as well as some platform-specific improvements.
From now on we should be able to release Euphoria
on all 3 platforms at about the same time. Depending on the
demand, we will consider new platforms.
All registered users of Euphoria 2.1
can upgrade to Euphoria 2.2 (WIN32+DOS32) for free.
Send me an e-mail and include some information
such as your full name and mailing address so
I can verify that you registered.
Regards,
Rob Craig

An idea for the wonderful Rob and co. @ RDS: How about a poll-form on
the site where OS's can be nominated and voted on, rather than having a
shout-out and email submit?
[For the record, I'm all for a Mac version since it is #2/#3*, although
I'm not very fond of the platform.]
*Depends on who you ask....

For now, I'd like to see more language enhancements such as execution
optimization, namespace management, etc.

Too bad IBM didn't. Then we wouldn't have this awful bleating coming from
Billy boy about his freedom to innovate. Of course, that would only have
left us with their truly awful choice of chip...the x86 series from our other
favorite innovator, Intel. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could have Euphoria
running on whatever would have grown out of a decision to build the PC
around the Motorola 68000 series or the National Semiconductor competitor.
So much would be sooooooooo much cleaner with a clean instruction set
and general purpose registers from the beginning instead of the abortion
represented by the 8080 and it's descendants until just recently. Come to
think of it, we're still suffering from it. Look at what most assembler has to
work around in the addressing modes of any x86..ugh. Some legacies should
be quietly interred along with their founders.

Argh - I've posted a joke so pathetic, I now have to *explain* it.
I was attempting to imitate Kat's IRQ-speak. See:

Am I a registered user of 2.1? I can't recall if I purchased Euphoria as version
2 or 2.1. I did receive my 2.1 upgrade over the 'net.
My name is Charles (Chuck) McGrew. I move frequently. When I originally
purchased the program, I believe I lived in Tennessee -- probably a Harriman PO
Box mailing address. Since then I lived in Corpus Christi, TX and am now living
in Kentucky.
Thanks,
Chuck
