besides what's the go with releasing my first major coding project and having it attacked before i can even respond to the users post, in less than an hour, mind u im quite flattered brian put it in a category and compared it to judith's ide without even running it , good 1 mate , judge something before you see it, always works like a charm , and then to go on and talk about viruses and stuff, thanks for trying to scare away anyone who is thinking about my hard work. The thanx i get for weeks of early early mornings and a personal contribution to RDS

I really meant it. There are already plenty of "no source" contributions and I wasn't trying to imply that any of them were malicious. I was just thinking out loud about how easy it would be. Believe me, I could whip-up a doozy Eu EXE that you'd have no clue about on first test... (in fact, I could probably provide source that you'd have no clue about) But I wouldn't nor am I trying to brag. It's just a fact and I'm sure many of us here *could*. Anyway, you are free to do as you will and if your product is good then we'll hear about those favorable reactions on the forum. However, there's no need to drop a big attitude around here because many don't much care for it. Our intent here is to learn and/or help. -- Brian PS:
global procedure forumhandler(object self, object events, object parms) if self = brianbroker then -- imagine resorting to my punctuation to try and show me up end if end procedure setHandler(forum,w32tosserremark,routine_id("forumhandler")) ForumMain(forum,Normal)
So basically your comeback is: "An non-existant Win32Lib-style event- handler with a juvenile name that does nothing even if brianbroker was in his face."? heh... don't start

The reason Michelle asked this, is not because of her or your interest in the Perl-language, but because of the negative and aggressive attitude on the Perl mailing list. I too find your attitude a bit too aggressive. You're probably new to this list, but you'll notice that people here are usually nice and polite, and most posts are made with good intentions. Nobody's trying to attack you personally. If someone gives critique on your posts or work, it's usually with the purpose of improvement. If you publish a program or code, you can expect critisism and you shouldn't be so defensive. Look at it from a neutral position and you'll see that most people are trying to help. Now don't see this post as a personal attack. -- tommy online: http://users.telenet.be/tommycarlier tommy.blog: http://tommycarlier.blogspot.com Euphoria Message Board: http://uboard.proboards32.com

look im not trying to be rude, i'm just defending my program, someone starts a thread wanting to ban bound programs, 40 mins after i release something i've worked on for weeks, and then suggesting bound programs are a median for virii , further giving my project a bad wrap. I hardly call that constructive critisism and half the people involved in this discussion probably haven't even downloaded the program, it happened to strike some nerve in the euphoria community about bound and open-source projects. I don't think the banning is specifically aimed at your program. But there have been bad experiences with bound programs in the contribs, that did some bad stuff. Of course you're allowed to contribute a bound program, I have no problem with that. Especially when it's only a program, and not a library. And even libraries can be contributed in a bound form. Like someone else already said, Pete's Print Preview-library is a fine example of such a bound library. -- tommy online: http://users.telenet.be/tommycarlier tommy.blog: http://tommycarlier.blogspot.com Euphoria Message Board: http://uboard.proboards32.com

I think that's part of the point that was being made though. Yes, at least half of the ones involved in the discussion haven't downloaded the program. That's the point. Most probably will not download it, if we can't view the source. > > From: spent memory <spent.memory at gmail.com> > Date: 2004/09/23 Thu PM 01:13:52 EDT > To: EUforum at topica.com > Subject: Re: Re: VE is an Euphoria Code Editor -- Not a routine library > > > look im not trying to be rude, i'm just defending my program, someone > starts a thread > wanting to ban bound programs, 40 mins after i release something i've worked > on for weeks, and then suggesting bound programs are a median for > virii , further > giving my project a bad wrap.
