The thread where your problem is discussed is "problems with install". Let the other threads alone!! Secondly, learn to quote: http://www.netmeister.org/news/learn2quote.html Thirdly, it doesn't make sense that you write any Euphoria program, when you are not sure whether Euphoria is properly installed on your system. Anything regarding the installation is explained comprehensive in the docs. When you encounter problems, ask _specific_ questions. Regards, Juergen

Hi Juergen, maybe I do it all wrong but this is in the quote, is't it? Why i got errors when starting a example? The meaning of an example is that it works! special when you are a beginner, like me. See the other answers to my question and maybe you know what is the problem. thanks anyway for answering. Regards, Dirk

dirk dekker wrote: > Hi Juergen, maybe I do it all wrong but this is in the quote, is't it? No, there is no quote in your post. I bet you did _not_ read _carefully_ <http://www.netmeister.org/news/learn2quote.html>, although I repeatedly told you to do so. You _must_ learn, that even in electronic communication, there are some rules. Also, you have to learn to _read_ _carefully_, for instance the dfference between "eupora","euphora" and "euphoria". Otherwise you will never be able to _write_ anything meaningful, whether it is a program or something else. > Why i got errors when starting a example? The problem is obviously, that you did not read/follow the installation instructions carefully. And yes: EUINC is not the same as EUDIR. BTW: How old are you? Regards, Juergen -- A: Because it considerably reduces the readability of the text. Q: Why? A: Top posting. Q: What is annoying in e-mail and news?

Derek Parnell (manager of Win32Lib) has one at http://www.users.bigpond.com/ddparnell/ProgrammingTutorial/default.htm. Chris Burch's includes some installation info: http://members.aol.com/chriscrylex/euphoria.htm Here's a place for mentoring: http://uboard.proboards32.com/index.cgi?board=Pupils And of course this forum is populated by many friendly and willingly helpful people. Just ask. -=ck "Programming in a state of EUPHORIA." http://www.cklester.com/euphoria/

Hi Dirk You look like a newby to me - looks like you're trying to run before you can walk. There was a recent discussion here re helping newbies - try these. http://members.aol.com/chriscrylex/euphoria.htm http://www.users.bigpond.com/ddparnell/ProgrammingTutorial/default.htm http://www.cklester.com/books/jubilation http://uboard.proboards32.com/ Chris

Don't worry about it. Other than one or two 'posting police', most of us here are just interested in the questions and answers. I, for one, don't have any problem with posts which are 'off topic', if I did, I would not read 90% of the messages here, because they invariably drift off-topic rather quickly. I can read fast enough that it is no great imposition if I must read the entire post. Now, as for Euphoria, I use it, and have for 5 or 6 years, in commercial work, when it fits the task. Bear in mind, however, that when it comes to Windows (or xWindows or GTK), those libraries are NOT supported by the creator of Euphoria, they're all contributed by users. Therefore, there is no real control over compatibility, versioning, etc. other than what those contributors choose to exercise. So you may expect to find things which do not work together. It's good to ask on this list about such things. You will also understand that, since this is a tool for programmers, a certain level of general computer expertise is assumed. And bear in mind that many of the people on this list have installed Euphoria numerous times (I have done perhaps 50 installs) and we know from experience that the basic setup does work, and is quite simple. So perhaps you can understand why some might be dubious when someone says they followed the directions but it doesn't work. Regards, Irv
