1. Programs you have made with Euphoria

Hello there,

I was thinking of making a list of all the programs i had made
using various versions of Euphoria, and then i thought it would
be interesting to ask here in the forum about what other people
had written in Euphoria too, even if not 'contributed'.
If you feel like it list your programs and what they do basically.
I'll come back with a list of mine as soon as i can...so many now
though ha ha over the years.

Take care,
Al

What is the point of doing that; all user has to do is search the Archive
for a person name to get a list.

Bernie

My files in archive:
WMOTOR, XMOTOR, W32ENGIN, MIXEDLIB, EU_ENGIN, WIN32ERU, WIN32API

I, for one, have only contributed a small fraction of my Euphoria programs,
either because I was too lazy to finish the documentation or because they
were proprietary. For example, on my laptop, I have a program that gets the
current weather page from wunderground's mobile site for three cities, store
the information in a local database, and present the evening and next day's
forcast on boot. Since it's in a database, I don't miss out if I'm not
connected to the net for a couple days. I also have a music randomizer that
plays a specified number of ogg or mp3 files from my music directory.

One of my current projects for work is to compare the contents of two
versions of an Excel spreadsheet and report the differences. Euphoria is
doing this very nicely, very quickly for two 6000 line spreadsheets. I have
a number of other work-related programs written in Euphoria for database and
document analysis, the front end to a help desk system, the front end to an
IT database, and an older EDI management system.

Then there are the hundreds of incomplete projects sitting on my hard drive
just waiting for the dust to get blown off.

Cool! Is there any chance for us to see the code eventually? :)

You missed the point: [even if not 'contributed'.] What can I say? Not
content with being a pita, maybe he wants to be a p***tease as well.

You also made the foolish mistake of asking him a question, highly
unlikely you'll get any answer whatsoever, less you'll like it.

Hi Bern,

Geeze, critical arent we today? ha ha
The point is, to see what everyone is up too with using Euphoria
all in one place and also to mention programs that are not submitted
to the archive. Also, i'd like to see how many programs others have
made (sheer number) because i realized recently that i myself have
made a WHOLE LOTTA programs already.

Take care,
Al

Hi Juergen,

Are there a lot of people here using Excel too? Perhaps i should
look into this. How much do they charge for it these days?

Hi Mike,

oh yeah ok, i have a number that get put on the back burner, but
not too many because i usually start a program or library out of
actual personal need, which means if i dont finish it i dont get
to use it for what i needed in the first place.

Hi Pete,

Yes i meant to find out other programs that people did that dont
appear in the archive too.
Not sure what you mean about not answering questions...were you
referring to me and if so i could have missed a post or two i guess.

I think next im going to work on a small program that counts the
number of Eu programs (.exw, .ex, etc) and include files on a
hard drive because i find it very difficult to go through all my
directories and count the different file types by hand...there are
just too many to do that effectively.

Sure, as long as you don't mind buggy, undocumented, barely functional code
as a contribution blink. Oh, wait - you're using Windows. I guess you don't
mind <jk>.

He, he. smile
In the past, I actually had need for such a program at work several
times. So its functionality is most important for me. It's not a big
disadvantage for me, if I don't understand the source code -- but in
that case, there must be no bugs, of course. blink
