Ok: 1. For informational purposes, who all wants to split the list up? 2. And: Can we? I like Ray's suggestions (below), except that I think we should probably keep this list as [DOS] and *add* [GEN], [WIN], and [LIN], because Robert once said it was difficult to get the name changed. But of course a question is, can we get new lists? Ray said: "If" new lists are to be created there should be one for each Euphoria platform. Dos, Windows, and Linux with this current list kept for generic discussion and "major" annoncements from any platform. For example, If I finished a project (probably never happen!!!) I would post a message to the main list. If I had problems/small changes/bug fixes etc I would post to the appropriate platform list. The question really becomes ... would most people subscribe to all the lists? If the answer is ... most people would ... maybe we should have a posting standards where [WIN] [DOS] [LIN] [GEN] (like the archive) should be in the subject line to easily allow people to filter appropriate messages. This standard should then be added to the Welcome message sent to a new user

> Ok: > 1. For informational purposes, who all wants to split the list up? I don't care. I'd subscribe to all of them and filter them to subfolders in a folder called "EUPHORIA." However, I'm willing to sell my vote to the highest bidder. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! Messenger. http://im.yahoo.com

If there were more lists available, I'd just subscribe to all of them, so it's no great deal. I'm subscribed to the wxWindows list, and they use a similar scheme that includes the list and the platform, so I get subject headers like this: [wxDevelop][Windows] It's a bit klunky, but it works. The only thing is that people have to be careful with their replies, so they place the 'Re:' *after* the header. -- David Cuny

one of the lists I subscribe to comes from egroups.com and it appears that their list server attaches the prefixes. Hi Dan I vote a big NO WAY to splitting up the list. Although the list gets a bit of traffic, I don't think there is enough to justify splitting things up. My experience of split lists / forums is that many people constantly post to the wrong list and you end up with list posting policemen......who often get accused of offtopic posts too! I personally find much of interest in many of the posts that revolve around other platforms. I can understand that Jiri probably feels less than overwhelmed with the current discussions revolving around Windows. It is a fact of life though that Windows *is* a big deal. I think the Windows projects being discussed are a good thing. That doesn't mean I love M$ Windows. I don't! I do like though that there is a group of people working to make life using it a little easier. The problem for Jiri I suspect is that many of us just don't cut the mustard coding wise. I wouldn't like to see Jiri and others maroon themselves on DOS island. I may not have the knowledge to get involved in the algorithmic cut and thrust but I do enjoy reading it!
