Dear Euphorians, I am appalled. Appalled, sad and disgusted. Not by the behavior of a teenage thug - I have been around long enough to know foul mouthed louts are not confined just to the terraces of soccer stadiums - but by your collective silence. I am reluctant to leave. I enjoyed my involvement with Euphoria, sharing my code, helping where I could, and in return witnessing its growing popularity over the last 15 months. I even enjoyed the occasional scrap with Michael Packard and the Reaper, but I simply cannot tolerate, even comprehend your inaction when faced with a bigoted twit that pollutes your space and insults you, your language and your intelligence. I hope I'll meet at least some of you somewhere else. Jiri

I, for one, am only silent because I know everytime I say something meaningful, it just gets thrown around and taken the wrong way. Most everybody here knows more about programming Euphoria than I do, so I just sit back and enjoy the chit-chat, try and get something out of it, and add what I can from my 10+ years of experience. > I am reluctant to leave. I've seen the kind of help you've given to people. Who knows if you'll even get this message, I'm almost sure you've unsubscribed by now, but I have to try anyway. -- - MiD ( mrunner at webaccess.net / http://rmi.net/~kaliste/ )

It could have been a beautifull fight.. And your big enough to fight little kids like me, aren't you... Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but eh.. who started this??? I am appalled also. Why must everyone pick fights, retaliate, and get even angrier. We are now losing a good programmer and almost lost Packard. What is going on? ~~>Joseph Martin ~~>E-mail: joe at cyber-wizard.com ~~>URL: http://users.exis.net/~jam/

Jiri has been a great contribution to this list, and the whole Euphoria comunity... you're young and want to learn and talk, so please be more respectful to other people. Dear Jiri, I hope you will reconsider your decision to leave the euphoria list. Your contribution have been one of the most appreciate. I don't understand why you want to leave the group because of a few arrogant teenagers, ( Teenagers are almost always arrogant). The last time I check there was 193 recipients on the list. Don't throw the whole basket for a few rotten apples. This world is far from perfect, during our life we are inevitably confronted to people we rather never met, but I don't see why we should leave the floor because of them. I keep silent when I read messages I don't like because I think that answering will only fuel an endless sterile exchange of insult. It take at least 2 opponents to start a fight. I never appreciated Ralf or Reaper arrogance and impolite tone but I will never leave the list because of them even if they would flame me every day. This is not their list, this is euphoria community list and many peoples made valuable contributions to this list (including you). They are the ones who count and the ones I would stay for. In spite of their arrogance an impoliteness Ralf and Reaper have made contribution to this group too. There is no good without bad. If we want the good we have to take the bad to. > I keep silent when I read messages I don't like because I think that > answering will only fuel an endless sterile exchange of insult. It take at > least 2 opponents to start a fight. Well, you are right about this, i did react too mad, but i just can't take insults, if Jiri insulted me, he could know this would happen, he kind of asked for it, and you two might consider to give me more constructive critism on my mails, critism which i can learn from instead of insults!! Critism like Jiri's isn't ok, but keeping your mouth shout isn't needed too, tell me what your problem is, without insults and we'll discuss and if your arguments are better than mine, i'll promise you my mails will change... > In spite of their arrogance an impoliteness Ralf and Reaper have made > contribution to this group too. There is no good without bad. If we want th e > good we have to take the bad to. What has the reaper done?? He i am getting jalous here, you should be mad at me only, not at him, he didn't do anything to gain it, why should I work, while he gets it without even having to do a thing, please be mad at me only, i feel betrayed... Because my English isn't too great some messages or joke might come to you or anyone else unfriendly, or impolite, but i never intended to sound like that, why don't people take that in consideration, my mails would be looking a lot nicer in Dutch, but it wouldn't help anyone, would it? And posting a message can never be arrogant, but shows respect, well that's my opinion, cause i want to learn Euphoria more with everybody on the list, i never insulted anyone else except Jiri to my knowledge. (If someone feels like i have insulted him, your miss interpreted my bad english) And the only reason i insulted Jiri was pay-back for his insult on me and was a bit childish, but that does not make all teeners on this list best, leave the Reaper out of it, thinking that you can understand people's behaviour from their age, sex, county is short-headed. PS The thing about me jalous on the Reaper is a friendly joke, if you thought otherwise here's a good example of miss-interpretating of MY bad english. At 12:14 AM 6/9/97 -0400, you wrote: >I don't understand why you want to leave the group because of a few arrogant >teenagers, (Teenagers are almost always arrogant). Picking on all teenagers because of the actions of me and Ralf is pretty dumb. You do realize this is how... oh, never mind. I know you meant well, but the message didn't come across very well. > I never appreciated Ralf or Reaper arrogance and impolite tone but I >will never leave the list because of them even if they would flame me every >day. I wasn't going to have anything to do with this Ralf discussion, but I should have known sooner or later my name would be dragged into it. If you're wondering what this is about, Ralf, when I first joined on this list Michael Packard was in his "if I don't like your question or program I going to bite of your head" phase. He jumped on me for some question I asked, I retaliated by letting my wild sense of humour out on him (trust me, it's dangerous. i have to keep it locked in my closet). Anyways, the joke got old and people started complaining. So both me and Packard decided it was time to stop. Let us not forget it is not just us teenagers that start the flame. Packard put more people out of the list than I did (1-0, as far as I know), and it often the older guys who start the thing in the first place. I'm not condoning Ralf's foul language and my old way of doing things, both were not necessary. As Ad Rienks kindly pointed out, I do not make these comments (well, not as much) anymore. However, I do not act this way because I feel "better" than my peers because of my programming ability. Quite the opposite, actually. I keep my programming a secret because it is considered "nerdy" (for lack of a better word), and I am probably one of maybe three people who program in their teens in my county. Could the following please respond to me in private E-mail: Jacques: I don't like seeing you disliking me. I remember a while back you were insulting my programming. I just want to know what a did against you. Ralf: Please tell me what "jalous" is. Please! Is it english? OK! NOW LET'S GET BACK TO THE PROGRAMMING! YES! Here's my question: Does anyone know how to change the shape and the size of the mouse in 320*200 mode (or mode 19). I do no understant mousecur.e Thanks for reading! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The Reaper (J. I wrote it wrong that's for sure, i ment the word that says you want something someone else does have and you don't, you want it (too), that's what i ment with the word.... (Hope my explenation is better) (For some strange reason i have a 7 for English, do you get it??) (PS The higest mark on a dutch school = 10, the lowest 1) (Anything under 5.5 is not done enough, any thing above is) (A 7 is thus pretty ok, however my English isn't) Ralf Nieuwenhuijsen nieuwen at xs4all.nl
