1. Multitasking Release

I've uploaded to User Contributions new multitasking versions of
all the interpreters, translators, PD translator libraries,
PD source, etc. You can add these to your existing 2.5 installations.
There are demo programs for all platforms.

It was easier to roll everything into one big .zip.
Download and unzip it in a temp directory.
Feel free to pick out the necessary files for your platform.
(Everybody has high-speed Internet these days, right? smile)

I found that Firefox kept picking up the old version of tasking.zip.
I had to clear the cache to fix it. I.E. was OK.

Let me know if you discover any problems, or have ideas for
improving things.

version of Linux is it?

The multi tasking demo is amazing - I now everything anyone could
ever want to know about how dangerous the U.S. V.P Cheney is...

I'm not sure exactly.
I built it on ListFilter, a shared host.
It seems to be a Red Hat Linux distribution with
Kernel version 2.4.21-37.0.1.ELsmp
I think they have multiple CPU's running.

Excellent!!!

Your method of using dir() to fix the include problem is even simpler and more
efficent than mine, yet it works perfectly with both the interpreter and the
translator without any slowdown whatsoever!

Nice... it seems you also decided against compressing the interpreter and
translator EXEs and libraries with UPX or anything. That will decrease the
initial memory footprint maybe few hundred kilo-bytes for the interpreters and
noticably increase initiation speed on very old 386 and 486 computers!

However you did forget to use the transparent icons I sent you a long time ago.
Those icons will look nicer on any color background. The current ones look kind
of "tacky" on anything but white. This isn't a big deal but it would be nice to
have better looking Windows icons. I can send them to you again if you lost them.

How well did Open Watcom v1.4 compile the DOS and Windows executables and
libraries for you? Where you able to remove the bug workaround code in the C
back-end? Perhaps the heap manager is better than Watcom 10.6 and offers slightly
better overall performance?

Sorry, I forgot about that. I still have your icons.
I'll use them next time.

I didn't want to switch to Open Watcom 1.4 while the code
was in a state of flux. If I got stuck on a subtle bug I wouldn't
know if it was my bug or Open Watcom's. I'll try it soon,
now that things are relatively stable again.

6. Re: Multitasking Release

Just downloaded the new release and both the Windows and Dos tests programs
work! I couldn't try translating them though because I don't have a C compiler
on this machine at work. Great job, Rob!
