1. EUforum "attachments"

Hello Rob, now and then someone wants in her/his EUforum post to point to a ZIP file, a picture, or something else that contains some additional information related to the concerning discussion. The other day you offered the opportunity, that we can put such a (small) file on your website, using the "entrance" at <http://www.rapideuphoria.com/cgi-bin/usercont.exu?dbId=new>. Thanks again for that offer. Then in our regarding post, we would write something like: "Please look at the picture <http://.../my_grandma.jpg>". Here should be the complete link to the file. But in order to be able to do so, we have to know the name of the concerning directory on your website, where our "attachment" is. Could you please put some information somewhere (maybe on the page <http://www.rapideuphoria.com/cgi-bin/usercont.exu?dbId=new>), where we can read what we need to know about placing "attachments" on EUforum? TIA, Juergen

Files that you upload are temporarily available at: http://www.RapidEuphoria.com/uploads/yourfile Where yourfile is the name that you choose. Normally these files are moved out when your upload is approved, but if you leave a "comment to RDS", I will leave them in uploads for a week or so. Eventually I should integrate this uploading feature into the Send Message form. I'll give this address on the upload form (later today). That way uploaders who have registered an e-mail address can see it, but other passers-by will not. Aku pointed out a major security problem with allowing uploads to a known location like this, but I think I've patched that now. Still, it's better if I avoid advertising this information to the whole world. By the way, did anyone notice how much faster the EUforum search is now? The move to the new machine is now complete. What is the specs on the new machine? They tell me it's an Intel Dual Xeon 2.8 GHz with 2GB RAM and RAID hard disks. I don't know exactly what they had before, but benchmarks indicated something in the high Pentium 2 or low Pentium 3 range. RapidEuphoria.com hasn't changed, only ListFilter.com Regards, Rob Craig Rapid Deployment Software http://www.RapidEuphoria.com

OK, it's done. After a successful upload, the system will tell you the link to your file on RapidEuphoria.com Note that we always convert filenames to lower case. Also, if your file has a strange file type, we might store it in an inaccessible place, pending human approval. Typical file types like .zip, .gif, .jpg, .tar, .e, .ew etc. are all ok. How would we go about doing that? Like say i wanted to add an attachment to this message right here... from the EuForum... Take care, Al And, good luck with your Euphoria programming! Yes, kind of. I already did so some time ago (when Rob introduced this possibility), but in the meantime I just forgot the name of the directory where the concerning file is. > How would we go about doing that? > > Like say i wanted to add an attachment to this message right here... > from the EuForum... We can not actually add an attachment, but include a link to a seperate file that we've uploaded to RDS' website previously. Rob explains it here: http://www.listfilter.com/EUforum/m876.html Regards, Juergen

Just upload it, like you would upload a new user contribution. After logging in, there is a HTML form which has a field "comment to RDS". In this field you write something like: "'foo.jpg' is an attachment for EUforum, not a user contibution." After uploading "foo.jpg", it will actually be available at http://www.RapidEuphoria.com/uploads/foo.jpg Tell us this link in your related EUforum post, so that we can access your "attachment". I hope this made it clearer. Regards, Juergen
