Hey, guys 'n' gals... I need y'all's help. :) I've got a program I've developed that seems to be unable to connect to my server on a few PCs. Most of my clients- probably 95%- don't have a problem, but there's a few that do. If you would, go to http://support.formsonadisk.com/ and download the Forms Manager to your PC. Run it. Click the "Support Dialog" button. The last two items are "Forms Server" and "Web Server." It might take a second. If you get a message that says "Cannot connect" for either the web server or forms server, please let me know! I'll need your help diagnosing why some people can't connect. Thank you!!!! -=ck "Programming in a state of Euphoria." http://www.cklester.com/euphoria/

In which Windows versions does it run? In Win95 when I click «Support Dialog» it crashes. I can see in the code where you might get that error... but it is very strange! :) I've uploaded a new version (2006.04.24). Can you try it for me? On my PC that is connected to the Internet, I connect OK to the Forms Server and the Web Server. On my laptop, which is connected to a proxy server on the PC via an Ethernet, after granting connection to Mcafee firewall, neither connection is made. The odd thing is, my proxy log shows no attempt to connect to anything !?!?

I have earlier experience with deployment of apps in uncontrolled environments; some of the deployed apps cannot use the normal Internet data transmission protocol which was suposed to operate everywhere, because of proxies, after two years of relentless effort. Unless somone has a very brilliant idea, you must come up with some alternative scheme, relying on email, floppies or such things, to perform the expected data exchange. Note that all proxies don't necessarily block useful traffic; this all depends on the security policy each proxy server enforces, and on the way it does so. CChris

Maybe he's running .il files using an old alpha or beta backendw.exe. There was a change in the .il format between the alpha/beta and the official 2.5 backendw.exe The other possibility is corruption of a .il or .exe during the download. If I did have an old binder package why would that effect anything? He's sending me an .exe file that should work whether I have any Euphoria programs installed in my computer or not. None of my other Euphoria programs are having any trouble. Maybe it's because I'm the only one using Windows 2000. Don Cole

But the second time I had to download twice the exe file because it gave the .IL error posted by Don. Looking at the exe file size I saw it was ~50k against ~450k it should be. So, for me at least, the error came from a corruption of file during download. I didn't report it because I thought it wasn't relevant. JG

Sorry, I haven't been following this thread, and I didn't try to download C.K.'s program, so I thought .il files may have been involved. If you downloaded a bound .exe and it gave you that message, then the download must have been corrupt, or incomplete. Rob, I downloaded it again without error. Julio, Seeing I'm using Windows 2000 and you using Windows 95 maybe cklester should look into why with pre XL OSs the file must be downloaded twice. cklester, Once downloaded and ran, your program sucessfully connnected to two websites.
