Rob, I think you would agree..enough is enough.. Would you be so kind as to react to this poll with appropriate action? Who here on this list would like to see MTS removed and banned from this list? Reply to this post... Put in the message body either... YES, if you would like to see him gone. NO, if you think he should stay. ...nothing else. This will keep it easier to count the votes. If you'd would like to vote.. reply within 3 days.. the poll will end then.

Chris Bensler writes: > Who here on this list would like to see MTS removed > and banned from this list? There is no way to remove and ban someone from this list. So please don't bother voting. Obviously Mike has irritated a lot of people. Mike: Please complete what you are doing and upload something on the Internet, before making further boasts. Once you have something that others can check out, please tell us what you have actually done. Some Rules for this List: Attack someone's ideas - don't attack the person himself. If you feel you must do it, send it through personal e-mail. Don' t do it on this list. It's futile anyway. You can't put out a fire with gasoline. Anyone with an ounce of testosterone is going to reply, match your insults, and try to raise you an insult. If you notice that you are posting more messages than anyone else, you should take a rest once in a while. Avoid excessive foul language. It turns people off, and causes them to dismiss your ideas. Also, feel free to say anything negative about Euphoria. I'll try not to be offended, as long as you are are stating the truth as you see it. Would it be possible to announce a list of rules such as Rob's and have the list administrator block posts form persistent violators (after appropriate warnings, of course). Maybe this is too much work--but if it is possible, I believe it is highly desirable. No organization can survive if it cannot exclude people who can not/will not behave in a civilized fashion. I was once part of a very enjoyable and instructive Friday night discussion group which was killed by a single obnoxious individual who we could not exclude because the church which provided the meeting space insisted that the group be open to all who wished to attend, no matter what. I would really hate to see the Euphoria List die. Each of us can contribute to saving it by being civil ourselves, but what can we do about those who refuse to behave civilly? -- Mike Nelson

It is probably pretty easy to get one. We could Democratically Nominate and elect willing Nominees. PLEASE !!! I this is not a request for volunteers. That MAY come later when and if we know how to place a list administrator into power. Please, DO NOT VOLUNTEER !!! respectfully, (A concept some don't have. {poke}) Lucius L. Hilley III

There are cures for too much testosterone, temporary cures and one permanent cure,, but baring that, maybe the list should be moderately moderated? I mean, since there are people wandering around with excessive unlicensed amounts of testo, which they aren't even trained to reasonably deal with,, and it's caused MTS to not think clearly, but we shouldn't have that problem of his inflicted on us. Robert, i bet you could run the list in Euphoria right there at RDS. Kat

As long as you keep "fueling his fire" (Metallica anyone? :) he _will_ keep on pestering us with his rants about whatever crosses his mind. I'd say it's immediately obvious that he's just looking for attention, which he has been getting by the truckload. Just consider the language he uses from time to time, when answering to certain, er, speculations about the existence of his little project. Since he has consistently failed to provide any actual proof on it, save for some silly code clippings which really don't qualify as proof if you ask me. So, the point I'm trying to make is, why bother answering him every time he blurts out some half-a... hmm... odd comment about something-or-other conserning his "programming language to end all programming languages" ? My suggestions are as follows: a) filter his mail out and have it sent to Alpha Centauri or any other suitable location where it won't do any harm. b) "ignorance is bliss" On the other hand, if he turns out to be telling the truth (which would seem to be just as probable as dropping a ball bearing from a passenger jet and hitting a herring sandwich) most of us are going to look absolutely ridiculous and will be mailing profuse apologies to the poor sod for quite some time ;) --Tom Eklöf (also known as the perpretrator of several programming languages best classified as esoterica and buried under a full moon in an unmarked grave) Sunpoint.net - Kolmannen sukupolven Internet-palvelu http://www.sunpoint.net

Hate to ruin your nomination of Robert for you but. From the best of my recollection Robert would not have started the list if he had thought that one day he would be moderating it. I see no problems with him moderating the list. It is just that his plate is already overflowing. When and if the list does become moderately moderated I suggest that it be by a someone that volunteers before being nominated. Moderating usually requires that the moderator watch over each and every message. That can be quite a task and eat up a lot of time. Of course, there is and alternative to a full time moderator. We the listserv elect a moderator and then instead of that moderator being required to watch the list with FULL attention they could be notified when we feel something gets out of hand. This also has its flaw. The moderator could become overwhelmed with complaints. This all comes to this. Any moderator could theoretically have a great burden on her/his shoulders. A very simple solution to removing a person from the list: Just don't respond to that person or comment about that person. If that person is using vulgar langauge then don't respond. If that person is totaly ignored and that person's 15 minutes of fame is over then they will leave on their own. Responses to that person only encourges that person to stay and continually manipulate the list users.

I didn't nominate anyone for *admining* the listserv, i suggested Robert could run the listserv there, on that puter(s), as i have a couple times before now. It could always be remote admin'd, like any other listserv. I was thinking that not putting it on a "free" listserv server, like eGroups (aka Micro$oft) or MSN (aka Micro$oft) or etc would take out a few layers of lag, and eliminate ad banners, exe files, html/java* email, and a couple of those adjectives/nouns that MTS defaults to using when he can't think of any more appropriate descriptors/titles. Heck, i'll even bet Eu could not only serve us that filtered email, but give us the option of unfiltered raw and vulgar email too! Kat ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lucius L. Responses to > > that person only encourges that person to stay and continually > > manipulate the list users. > Easier said than done.. My message was posted out of EXTREME frustration! Due to the presence of MTS, my mail server has been flooded every day! How do you ignore that? I should change my mailing address because HE can't keep HIS trap shut? I took me over 4 1/2 hrs to be able to finally get to my mail. and then when I did, my server had already automatically deleted the earliest posts to make room for the new! I hadn't read them yet! I have to go to the RDS site and check the posts from there? Then why am I on this list?! Many people are leaving the list because of this jerk! Is that fair!? I shudder when I see a post of a fellow Eu enthusiast who has been practically forced off this list by MTS. To this end, I apologize once more for posting such a personal attack on this list.. but it was completely intentional, as I wanted people to respond. So MTS can see for himself how much he is unwanted on this list. My post was targeted at MTS but was intended to be read by the list.. The response was my goal. If I had sent that to him directly, my words would have been entirely wasted,as he would shun it off as just one more chump that doesn't like him. Furthermore... being driven to sink so low as MTS, peeves me the most.. I think I am starting to develop somewhat of an identity as a flapjaw... and this is NOT me! I DO speak my mind though. Some people seem afraid to rock the boat, but I find it to be the most effective way to get ppls attention.. Thus I stepped up to do the dirty deed that so many of us would have loved to do,but r too worried about tripping on their tongue. I don't care. That's why I said I was RANTING, that's what you do when you RANT. you bitch and complain and sometimes say things you regret. I take NONE of it back.. If that virus isn't cleaned soon, this community will die a slow and painful death(metaphorically speaking of course). I for one don't want to see this. I once enjoyed reading this list, and hoped I would be able to share ideas and help at some time. But if he isn't gone very shortly, you can add me as another unsubscriber... This list is supposed to be a convenience, NOT a burden! I can only hope I will be on this list still in the future, but I refuse to participate in this circus anymore. I'm so poor even the rats are starving here. I use a web based POP3 server. Yes I can download to Outlook and do, but not until my mail server has puked and farted. Hence I'm quite frustrated. My only options are to leave the list or get a new mail account(I haven't been able to find one that will be any better) Unless you can suggest something else? ----- Original Message ----- From: No Solution <solutionnone at HOTMAIL.COM> To: <EUPHORIA at LISTSERV.MUOHIO.EDU> Sent: Tuesday, April 18, 2000 9:06 PM Subject: Re: MTS Vote > If your so pissed, block MTS's email address. > > ______________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com >

What if you wrote an email retriever (in Eu) which downloaded the email for you every hour? Didn't someone already write the code and post the code on the RDS page? If so, add a timer and you can have the email on your puter automaticly in a fairly timely manner. TY kat, yes I think that would work, but this means Having to interrupt my *BUSY* household phone line EVERY hour! All cause of MTS? Yes you could say 'WHAT IF' it just so happened that the list started booming? Wouldnn't it be the same thing?..... Yes it would, but everything was fine until MTS brought his tornado..
