Hello All,
A few years ago I posted my very first contribution to RDS.
It was a bundle of various graphical dos programms. One of
them was called "fall.ex" or "fall and sift" It would draw
lines and shapes and bitmaps on the screen and then make them
fall down to the bottom and sift like sand to a stable position.
Today I'm introducing a new Fall 'n' Sift. It's just a little
screen-saver type of program that uses neil.e. It does
basically the same thing the old one did except for a few
exceptions:
1) It's faster
2) it only does bitmaps now (no random polygons, sorry)
3) sifting can occurr at the same time things are falling.
3) more than one image can fall at a time.
4) it is customizable via the FNS.INI file.
I included an executable as well as the source for your
convenience. There does seem to be one bug left. sometimes
very rarely the program will abort with a causeway error.
because it's so rare and doesn't provide any debuging report
I can't figure it out.

Lewis, It (fall'n'shift) (fns.exe) aborted saying
'variable Bw has not been assigned a value'.
Haven't tried fns.ex yet.

A ha! I don't have neil.e. FnS.ex won't run without it.
But shouldn't FnS.exe have everything included in it?
I thought the executable version contained all the included
subroutines. Maybe the problem is something else.

Yes, the EXE file should run without any aditional include
files.
I think that error message means, that it can't open the
bitmap file that it's trying to open. Try removing (or
commenting out) any "path" statements in the FNS.INI
file. I'll try to fix this in the next version.

Hello all,
I was wrong in my previous post.
The real problem I believe was in failing to set the
appropriate graphics mode. This update fixes that
but John, you and anyone else interested will have to
download Neil from Pete Eberlien's site because I can't
bind the executable again until I get home.

Rob, don't bother updating the website until I get a bound

PS, I set the INI file to drop the images faster and broke
them up int individual balls. I will add more next time. :)
