1. AW: Virtual processor

Hi Jan, Did you ever think about if its possible to "programm a 1 Ghz Processor" just on a 200 MHz-"Real life CPU". If it would be possible, the Intel stocks would fall to a quarter and BMW would immediately stop to produce=20 cars with big motors.=20 They would just "re-program" their small cars. So first ... there are virtual CPU-Proramms out there (www.vmware.com ?), but the real CPU does all the work, its not "stopped". Second: if you stop the real CPU its like when you're sleeping (and not dreaming ...): Nothing happens. (Of course something happens ... but who=20 knows about ?). Have fun --Theo -----Urspr=FCngliche Nachricht----- Von: alojz.hancic at siol.net [mailto:alojz.hancic at siol.net] Gesendet: Donnerstag, 29. I was traying to ask you if it is = posible to write a program that woud bee like a procesor so you coud swich off = the real procesor and use the virtual one. Lep Pozdrav Jan

I didn't know BMW made any cars with motors. There are some programmable motors and programmable engines, but they tend to be buggy, pricey, and not meet emission standards. > So first ... there are virtual CPU-Proramms out there > (www.vmware.com ?), but the real CPU does all the work, its not > "stopped". > > Second: if you stop the real CPU its like when you're > sleeping (and not dreaming ...): Nothing happens. > (Of course something happens ... but who > knows about ?). Doesn't the cpu in a mac go idle, at least part time, if you plug in a virtual pc card? In the C64, i think the 6510 went idle if you plugged in an 8085 or Z80 card. Someone once sold daughter cards for PCs that carried various cpus too, and in some cases there was significant speedup,, but i grant you it was all in hardware. Still, if someone with a 386 in Russia could plug in a cheap 1Ghz daughter card, it might be useful. The successfull breaking of RSA was done on a PC, and the cpu did very little work, the real horsepower was in the FPGAs on daughter cards laying all over the tabletop. Kat

Each of the computers (diff with manufacturer) can be re-programmed. The big thing to study up on if your an enterprising young person right now are Electric cars and even Hydrogen power.......The future is soon. Of-Course, you could take electronics and create an infinite power sys (My best is 96% if only I could eliminate the 4% drain.) Hint: transmission actuator Euman

It is possible to en/disable individual valves, change valve timing while the engine is running, change effective combustion chamber volume while the engine is running, change from 4cycle to 2cycle and back again while running,, and even stop the engine, then restart it running (properly) in reverse. Motor controllers can change the motor from series wound, shunt wound, or compound wound. Many home AC motors start with a split phase configuration, but run with straight induction. I have seen a AC motor that even changed the impedance of the rotor while running, i turned it into a DC motor that changed from a series wound to a compound config after startup, limiting max noload rpm. > I'll bet your ride has a computer.........the question is how much of a bet do > you want to make? > > Each of the computers (diff with manufacturer) can be re-programmed. > > The big thing to study up on if your an enterprising young person right now > are > Electric cars and even Hydrogen power.......The future is soon. Heh, i had an electric in the mid 70's. I bought a VW with no engine, dropped in a heavy golf cart motor with class F insulation, batteries, etc, and drove it to/from work for about a year. Oddly, atm my `79 Z car has a great engine that won't quit, and the body is totally rusting out, or i'd make it into an electric too someday. The power lines for the charger are already run out to the driveway. I'd use a different motor this time. A *few* lead-acid or Nicad batteries, and the more advanced new fuel cells, the newer rare-earth PM AC motors, and it would be easy to make an electric with looooonnnng range and lots of get-up-n-go. Well, i did order some materials for a thermal solar trough-type power generator yesterday, i have lots of flat roof, made just for this purpose. . > Of-Course, you could take electronics and create an infinite power sys > (My best is 96% if only I could eliminate the 4% drain.) > Hint: transmission actuator I made a stable infinite power generator, problem is, the required materials don't exist, and it only stored power, not made it, and it would work only in outer space on the dark side of a planet. Oh well, i wasn't going there anyhow. Kat
